Shine by Lauren Myracle

It must be the cold nights, gray days or something in the water. I keep choosing books to read that keep me up at night. Shine is a work of fiction, but could have been taken from a current newspaper headline. Cat's friend, Patrick, is the victim of a hate crime and the small town sheriff seems determinded to call it a random crime by out of towners. Cat doesn't believe that and starts to ask questions. As she digs deeper, secrets are uncovered that seem almost too much for one person to carry. At the same time, Cat slowly brings her own secrets to the surface creating even more tension. Can't sleep? Looking for a page turner? This might be the book for you. Recommended for older teens.
